EuroVox query - Think I was taken for a ride?

    Hi guys,

I recently purchased a EuroVox MAX 2008 which is working fine a part from some channels skipping.

Now the over all price I paid was ?150! Reasons being I was told:

    -It was brand new
-Needed to be chipped to suit my area
    -Hard to get hold of
    -Prices recently gone up

I did what I should of done before purchasing and it turns out the EuroVox MAX 2008 used to retail at about ?70 and the box is flashed not chipped. Which I could of easily done myself with the applicable cable?

Turns out the new boxes can be bought for a lot less that I paid, such as:

    EX1000 - ?79.99
    EX5100 - ?89.99
    EX5100 + HDD - ?129.00

So far it looks like I got seriously owned? Secondly, the remote is worn out so definately is not new!

    So, my question is:

Should I return it, get my money back and buy something like the EX1000 and flash it myself?

Easy as that or am I missing something?

    Thank you very much.

yeah mate..get your money back! I got 2 eurovox sl1000s last year for about ?130.You should be able to pick up a max V for ?50-?60 now.just get a null modem cable and flash them yourself.I think the most expensive I've seen the sl1000 is about ?90.

OK, should be getting my money back.

Should I go for the 5100 over the 1000? Are the differences major?

They will both give you all the channels. Just depends how much you want to spend and how you are going to use them.

Well, not too fussed about recording or pausing live TV. Might go for the 1000 then.

                          Thanks all.

                            hi mate,,

after reading all of the above nobody has mentioned CLONES !!

these clone boxes should be avoided

                            buy from a reputable seller
