    scanning ex5100 low signal

I've just got my eurovox ex5100 today and I'm having trouble when scanning for channels.
I've done the firmware update ok but when i connect my box and do a scan I'm getting a low signal strength, 8%-15%, always a red bar. When the scanning is done I've not got any channels.
My friend sent me some cdf files and i tried to do a update fast scan of those channels and still no joy, just got a error on screen "no or bad signal".
I've not had cable TV for a few years so i thought could it be my box on the wall, is it still connected or do i need a new isolator?
I've got cable internet running upstairs 50mb with no problems, so I'm not sure if the above questions applies.

I've done fast scans and deep scans(lots of them!!!!!) and I'm lost, can anyone help?

m8 are you sure you have loaded the correct softwa*e for you box. After you download the correct softwa*e, do a factory reset/clear data and then do a scan.

If you have broadband for internet then you are ok, BUT you need to look in the Omni box on the wall outside. Look to see if your internet cable and vbox cable are joined by a splitter, (they probably disconnected your tv cable as you arent using it) then its just a matter of putting in a splitter and joining up.... (if you have no omni box outside, then trace the cables from tv (vm cable) and modem cable... ok?
      Good luck

Checked the feed from outside, you we're right only had feed direct to the upstairs cable internet. rerouted through the splitter and all working ok.
          Thanks for the help. :-)
