EX5000 How to Manually Add Channels and Frequencies

Hi.... guess this has probably been answered but after an hour of searching I still cant find the answer....

Ok I have a Dbox2 and Ex5000, I seem to have more channels on the Dbox, this in itself is not a problem, as would not generally watch those channels, I just would like to know how to edit the Channel and Transpoder Lists to add those missing channels and transponders....

Like I said this is not a necessity, more of a learning excersise...

Thanks in advance for any help.....

      Hi Bizzare 1...

In part answer to your question, some things can be done via the remote control like entering the Keys, adding channels to your favorites etc... Im no expert, but think it is best to try and get to know how things work on your box, so would advise to download Voxer, get a cable and connect to your PC, save a copy of your CDF file, duplicate it, mess around with one copy then upload it to your box, just to see what its all about, then upload the original one just to put the box back to the way it was... this will give you a feel for things and you can progress from there... better to have a better understanding now whilst things are ok , services all running fine, just my humble opnion.....

There are those far better qualified whom I hope will post some replies in this thread....

not sure about ex5000 but on a max v which I expect is very similar
you need to know what frequency the missing channels are on and do a scan of that frequency

I would save your channel data file first so you always have something to fall back on

Menu/Installation/Fast Install and press OK (enter pin)
This brings up the Fast Install screen, check symbolrate is correct then press exit on the remote and the frequency screen opens up.
Scroll to the frequency with the channels you want to update
Press OK on remote this will put a tick next to the frequency
Press the Blue Button on the remote to do a manual scan of that frequency
hopefully this should pick up any missing channels.

If you are missing a transponder frequency then you need to add it manually.

        Menu/Installation/User Installation/OK/Pin
This brings up the Fast Install screen
check symbolrate is correct then press exit on the remote and the frequency screen opens up.
On the remote press the green button (CH Edit) and then the red button (Add) this opens a screen where you can input the information required.
Input the channel number, this should be 1 above your highest, (if you have 31 transponders then number it 32)
To change the channel number press info on the remote (this brings up an editing screen)
On the editing screen Input the number you want and then press save
select frequency and using the remote numbers input the new frequency, do the same with the symbolrate
Press OK to save it and you will go to the transponder frequency screen where your saved transponder will be last in the list
Scan your new transponder to get missing channels

why would you bother with manually adding frequencies and channels, just dowload the latest firmware from the site for your box and perform a deep scan. this will get you all available channels.

some people have their channels in specific order and don't want to go through the whole process of sorting them again just for a couple of changes, others are frightened that they may mess everything up and lose the lot (yes its easy when you know how and have already done it) but this doesn't stop peoples reluctance to try it.

no need to download the latest firmware if you already have it on your box or if you are adding the codes manully just do a factory reset and powerscan.
