Help Please!

Ive just purchased a eurovox EX5000 PVR. Its a RED and tried flashing the red firmware from this site.

After issues with the Com ports on the null modem cable, i managed to get software to start, but it said "writing... and a timer gets to about 90 seconds then, it just says download failed.

Can anyone help please, i used to used dbox2, and thought these where easier to setup.

is the download a RAR file.. have you unzipped it and extracted the image..??

or is it like a dbox2 where i select an image? how do i do this i thought the image was in the firmware. Ive downloaded UFL_MAX_RED_30_11_08.exe how do i load an image mate? and where do i get one?

Ive read them mate, but it doent say anything about an image. Ive followed the steps, and then i get the download failed. Does the UFL firmware contain the image?

i think you need to flash with this firmware Digital Kaos - Downloads - UFL_EX5000PVR_24-02-09_DarX as the red in downloads is for the max v,

isnt that for the black box, coz its got a black label on software. It says no available com port, anyway on that firmware mate. I think im getting troubles coz i have a usb adapter to null modem cable from laptop.

could nt see that it says dont use on clones. but you can use an earlier firmware if it does. anyway the reason is no available comport, you need to get a comport on laptop and select identical comport on loader

cheers wilf. I just managed to get it to start, but same problem. It just says writing... counts to 90 seconds, then says downloading is failed...

Anybody know why?

To get to device manager and check the comport number you need to:

Press start button
Move mouse over My Computer to highlight it, then right hand mouse click
Then click on Manage
Double click on device manager
plug in usb
then you should see the ports(com& lpt) click on the plus sign at the side and it will drop down and should say prolific serial usb to (com?) that ? number is what you need, try the usb in all on ports on puter if you find one 4 or less that should be ok to flash the eurovox.

have you turned all power off to box then press download then turn back on power

yeah cheers ive done that wilf, but its still not loading, tried all 3 USB ports. still stops at 90 percent writing. then downloading is failed.

what numbers were on your (com + lpt)

ive tried com1 com2 com3. It changes com when i change USB port. still the same mate.

i mean go in device manager then when you push in usb it should come up with com&lpt press the plus sign at the side and it will have a drop down and there will be a com? number what numbers are coming up if 1 of them says com 1 2 3 or 4 that is the usb port to use and what ever number it said is the same number to select on loader
