EUROVOX MAX V no channels 13/06/2009

Hi to all the moderators and tech junkies here...

I have just registered to this site and this is my first post which I feel is very necessary after failing to find the solution for my problem.

I have a eurovox max v (original not a clone!) and I have a small amount of experience in sorting out the minor problems i have had over the time like uploading new software and flashing it whenever needed.

What's brought me here today is, my box is not picking up any channels at all. I have done a power scan 3/4 times after deleting all channels and all it does is find the frequencies successfully. But when the stage comes to searching for channels on each one, I get nothing at all, it just passes through each one. I tried doing a factory reset and then doing a power scan but nothing positive has come out of it. I even changed the symbol rate from 6952 to 6887 but still nothing. I have now changed it back to 6952 and tried the power scan but it doesnt find any channels. I am in the W.Midlands region and I have the latest software - 1.0 ST4 Apr 18 2008 - well at least I think it is because I haven't seen any newer ones published.

Does any1 know what I can do oir point me in the right direction? Your help will be much appreciated!!!

the latest firmware for the euro max v is 1/12/08 i have just put it in downloads. ps i 4got 2 add the date can 1 of the mods add it 4 me thanks.

When you go into user installation what is the sig quality like on some of the frequencys
this is the latest firmware

There seems to be something unclear to me now...

When I flashed the box with the latest software, I downloaded it from another website - (cablebox.4shared - and sorry if im not allowed to do that!) and I downloaded the latest one. On that site it was the UFL_MAX_V_5_12_08.exe software and that is what I have been using since and have had no problems until now.

The signal quality I get is 85%

sorry but your post says it's 18 /4 /08 whitch is out of date

The only thing i can suggest is flash it again it wont do any harm to try the 8% fix.

Im pretty positive I used the December 2008 software but common sense does tell me that maybe I didnt as the box should reflect that but its telling me the software is from April. On top, the experts are also telling me the same thing so maybe I should just shut up and do as they say.

Its past 11pm now, and I havent got the necessary tools with me, will have to do it tomorrow now. So I will keep my fingers crossed and hope that this is the root of the problem. If not then I am coming back to do your heads in again.

Hi guys, im back again unfortunately...

Ive downloaded the latest software from 30.11.2008 and flashed it twice. I wiped the old software off first and then uploaded the new one. The first thing I go to is the system information and it tells me that the software I have is from April 2008. That obviously tells me that im not uploading it right but I dont know why not because I get the right messages on the dialog boxes like "version 2.10 detected or download successful". Whats going wrong?

PS - now after all that, the channels have come back and its working. Its totally confused me now, because I dont know whether I have actually done anything with the software or not OR whether the there was just some problem in my area or some malfunction in my eurovox.

And let me add the system information it's telling me:

the latest firmware for max v was only an update so it still shows the April date in your system information

yours is showing that you have the latest firmware on your box

Just noticed your thread - what smoggy says is spot on - the last firmware update was a butcher/ modification of the previous code, hence it still had the April 08 date - just a pity no one mentioned this earlier as this is what was probably causing your confusion!

Thanks for sharing d33, I have been experiencing the exact same problem since May in the Dublin city center area and since I rescanned I lost all channels. I know that NTL had been doing some major work to setup all their new digital cabling and since then people like you, me and many Eurovos users I know started to lose their channels one by one. It is great that some of us managed to get their channels back so there might be some light at the end of that digital tunnel...I will persist and download the 30/11/08 file on my end and will let you guys know.
