    Eurovox noob

    Hi people

I am looking at getting a box but know very little about the subject so if anyone has the time to educate me that would be great.
    1. I have virgin broadband but not the tv and sky tv - do i have enough to run a box and receive scrambled channels?
    2. What model number would be good for a noob like me to learn the basics with?
    3. Is there a basic guide anywhere on what to do with your box to get it up and running?

    Kind regards

Hello m8 and welcome to DK.
There are loads of different boxes that will enable u to receive cable tv channels.
Some boxes are just basic and othere allow you to record channels, just like a VCR.
As you,ve already got broadband, u just need to buy a box, update the softwa*e, scan for channels and enjoy.
Broadband and cable tv are sent down the same line, so you,re OK.

The difficult bit is choosing which box you want.

Have a look here Skywonder Ltd they have plenty of choice and supply original items.

        Thanks for the quick replies

Will i be ok running the splitter from the brown virgin box on the outside of the house as my white inside box next to the internet is too far from the television?
Do you get the correct cabling with the eurovox or do you need to buy this seperately?
Also what are these 'keys' i keep reading about and what are they needed for if you've flashed your eurovox?

        Regards

i would be very wary as to putting splitter outside in case you ever need to call v/m and they need access to the the box outside they will wonder what your up to with splitter connected to their box. may be better with the splitter inside connected to your cable box of choice and then use a video sender then no need for a lot of cabling.

you won't get any cables with your eurovox. You will need to buy some coaxial cable (make sure you get the cable/sat coax) and some F-Connectors. Have a short cable from your white box to the splitter, then a cable going from the splitter to the internet and the other to your eurovox. Don't worry about the distance from your white box to your TV. I have over 25m of cabling running from downstairs, up the wall cavity, into the loft then down into the bedrooms with no loss of quality.

or, if you check the VM website, it's actually cheaper to get a phone,TV and 20meg broadband package (?31) than it is just 20meg broadband (?35 after introductory offer). 10meg broadband is ?25, so if you're onyl on 10meg and want to double your broadband speed for ?6/month then you can get the engineer to come and install the TV box for free, then you just swap the box over when he's gone

if you have v/m install cable tv i would not remove there box as the boxes talk back, you just have both boxes wired using the splitter.

I got my Eurovox today from lincsat who i notice posts here.
All up and running with no problems i would recommend him - he even installed the firmware for me.
Now to sort out my cabling issues!
