Eurovox Max V versus Eurovox HD Range

Hi All,

I hope I'm posting in the correct forum, apologies in advance if not.

I was wondering if it is worthwhile upgrading from a Max V 2008 to another Eurovox device which offers HD.

My current setup uses the analog (1 cable for the video and 2 for the audio) and I find that the picture is fine on a 50" plasma.
I have been told that by using a scart connection, the picture should be even better as it's using a digital signal. This seems logical, can anyone confirm this?

This brings me to my 2nd question, is it worthwhile upgrading to a device which supports HD?
My understanding is that HD broadcasts are still in their infancy with not many providers offering it.
Also, hardware seems to be in it's early stages, and updates are difficult to come by......

there have been 2or3 updates for the ex7000 since it was launched late last year so I wouldn't worry about the updates. However what it boils down to is if your willing to fork out for another box that at the moment will only give one HD channel (BBCHD). Rumours were afoot that more HD channel were to be launched in April, but this never happened. Furthermore, if and when more HD channels are launched, this could possibly coincide with an upgrade to Nagra3 encryption which could render the eurovoxes useless.

I have one and the picture on BBCHD is great. I'm not telling you to get one or not get one, just giving you the info so you can make your own decision.

Hi, I have both of these boxes EX7000 purchased a couple of months ago and in my opinion i wish i hadn't bothered yet, i knew that there was only one HD channel but the upscale feature promised to enhance all other channels but the fact is that upscaling is pants really, the HD channel that is available BBCHD is not BBC1 or 2 it is a seperate channel showing various bbc programmes, if you have ?174.00 to throw away then go for it but if i had the chance again i would wait untill some new HD channels come along, also bearing in mind what the other poster said about nagra3 rendering boxes useless, and on a last note the firmware for the EX7000 is far from sorted yet as there are still problems with Favs and EPG.....

would recommed eurovox ex7000hd picture a lot sharper than ex5100 and more hd channels now bbc,mtv,ch4,espn,fx,nat geo. pic very good
hope more channels will go hd soon
