It is a cable STB. It will say Satellite receiver on the packaging. This is more to do with shipping and export as Sat receivers are less restricted as opposed to cable boxes.

      Which Max model is it?
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer. - Douglas Adams

on the box and the stb panel it says digital satellite reciever its a 2006 max series, the back of the box has rf in and loop out connectors not threaded end for connecting cable.

Its a "blue" model which has the best tuner out of all the earlier Max models.

You will find the firmware for it here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...firmware-9787/ but check first if it is a clone or genuine model. You will see a link at the top of the page I have just referred you to for info on clone V genuine boxes.

All the red stickies at the top of this section will help you get your box up and running. Any queries please post back here.
