Hi, I have recently purchased a Eurovox EX1000 SL on behalf of my nephew. I purchased it on 27 April 2009 but he has only just tried it out in his house this week. He has a VM cable connection (and has VM phone account but not VM TV or broadband). He said the sound sounded distorted on it so I went over today to try out my own Max V box on his connection.
Basically I am suspecting the EX1000 box may be faulty because :-
1) there IS a distortion on the sound. You can still hear it but its noticably distorted in quality. I tried setting signal booster to On but this has no effect. On trying my own Eurovox Max V box on the same connection, the sound quality is perfect.
2) the signal level is about 82% on all channels. On trying my own Eurovox Max V box on this same connection, the signal level is 97%, (I use an attenuator to get it down to a usable level, and it works perfectly).
3) I tried known good cables (ie white coaxial cable and SCART cable) from my Max V box, but the above problems still occur.
The EX1000 gives a good picture though. It is only sound that is the problem (and the unusually low signal level).
I tried it in my own house and there it has the same abnormally low signal level of about 82% (whereas normally with my own Max V box I get about 95% - and I use an attenuator to reduce it).
It seems like my nephew?s cable connection must be OK, as my Max V is working OK on it.
So is it likely this EX1000 box is faulty ? I have the latest firmware dated 24 Feb 2009 on it.
Any advice much appreciated.
