    Eurovox Model Number Issue

Hi I'm a newbie so please bear with me. I ordered a Eurovox ex5000 and was actualy sent a Eurovox ex5001 yet the invoice stated it to be a Eurovox ex5000. Since the ex5000 is a lot easier to set up than the fiddely diddly ex5001, I'm beginning to wonder if the issue is combating clones, whatever that means, or deliberately misleading people by updating a machine that is now much harder to set up than the machine I actually ordered which was the ex5000, so buyer beware, or am I missing something.

    Thanks

    m8, U should be glad u got the ex5100.
The ex5000 model has been cloned and has now been replaced with the new ex5100, which has not been cloned...YET.
All respectable sellers are now sending out the new ex5100 to make sure their customers get a original box.
So u have nothing to worry about.
As for setting up the box, easy, peasy. No difference at all.
Everything U need is here including all the help U could want.
so dont be alarmed, its just a clone issue, which has been delt with.

Thanks for that, but I still don't get the clone issue, what goes wrong when a box get's cloned, or is it just really some kind of software control problem.

Original boxes get cloned/copied mainly by the chinees and they flood the market with cheap imitations.

These clone/copy boxes usually fail on a softwa*e update, as the original softwa*e will kill any clones/copies.
So as soon as copies are made, the original supplier, not wanting to loose revenue will update their box with new hardwa*e and or softwa*e.

You were right badapple, updating the ex5100 was easy peasy, even for me, I used an old laptop with a serial connector runnining Windows xp which I luckily had laying around, I didn't even have to do a factory reset first. Not bad for a first attemp via a lead, many thanks for your input, time now to try and fix my old mates Nokia dbox for him, Ha !, no stoppin me now. Hope to speak again soon.
