why update firmware? + cdf question

This may be a silly question but what is the advantage of updating firmware? does this mean not having to rescan so often?

Also if I update my cdf file (via upload and then download) does the channel sequence I've chosen remain, even if I do a powerscan?

uploading new firmware is needed normally to keep your encrypted channels free to view. ie when vm switch you off. sometimes its needed to correct any small errors that may be running whilst using the firmware or sometimes new firmware is released because it is better than the old firmware. if you upload a cdf file to your box it will automatically replace your channels in which ever order you had them in and rearrange them in the order which is on the cdf file. its best to create your own cdf file of the channels currently on your box that is your own channels that you set up yourself. read the threads to find out how its done.
