Eurovox 7000HD Configuration Menu Inactive PIN non functional & Menu Continously Rest

I can no longer access the configuration menus in my EX7000,
when I press menu, and then select Deepscan, Fast install or even factory reset (any of that menus options), including the fast colour keys for EZ Config/ install I get the "Enter PIN" prompt, and as soon as I enter the 4th digit the following occurs:

    - The PIN prompt dissapears as though nothing happened.
    - No indication that PIN was right,
    - No indication that PIN was wrong,
    - nothing at all,
    - the existing menu is simply displayed there in the default state as when the MENU button is pressed.

I tried reflashing - which I could only do by going back to an earlier (Jan '09) flash.tbn file because when you switch the box on and off the search for a flash file also checks that the version is the same, so if you try to flash with the same version the display will read "Same Version", and ignore it. So you must go back to an earlier version (which I also tried to access any of the config menus with) without joy, then I reflashed to the later firmware again (Mar '09) with the same failures.

    Have tried the codes:

    1004
    1000
    0000
    6502 (master reset code)

    Any other ideas?

Your supplier told you to come here and start a thread? I suggest telling your supplier the box is under warranty and let them sort it out for you.

We will help out with problems but your supplier needs to give support not use here as their support site.

Yes, well he asked me to raise the issue on the forum if I couldn't find a solution, he said he'd keep my box until 9th July at least if I sent it as a return to him, he did say he was in Spain thought, maybe he's on holiday.

He has some neck that's all I will say and I know one site I wouldn't recommend to anyone based upon that type of customer service.

This is not their support site and tell him that when he returns from his holiday!

I know you are the end user and are unfortunate enough to have to deal with this sort of service. As I said yes we can help out but they really are taking the pi**.

What you have done is sufficient enough after that I would ask for a repair, replacement or refund as declared under your warranty.

The name of the supplier you have deleted from your first post is mycablebox.co.uk, as said definitely one to steer clear of given what you said in your pre-edited post.

This product has had a lot of launch faults, a replacement is probably underway, in the meantime I need to find a user who's had similar issues. It would be good for me to:

          1. Discover I can fix this without having to drag this thing to the post office and pay carriage
          2. Find a person who has had a similar experience.
          3. Learn from all this.

I sometime regret having bought this box due to the channels issue, but if someone can help me tune in ITV1 to my EX7000HD I would be grateful.

BTW: Wasn't the weather great today

Does anyone have a schematic of the PCB for info. I wonder if the menu controller is separate to the key handler. If so then I suspect this other issues on this box e.g. Subs, audio, favourites could only be sorted by a hardware redesign. I.e. The release of the next generation product. EX7001HD??

Could someone please confirm that when the wrong PIN is entered that a warning appears telling you so. If so I definately have a faulty box.

                ex7000hd setup probs

Hi.Received my box yesterday and have explored menus etc and finally managed to set up after frustrating couple of hours. I sympathise with your problems especially lack of support. When you swicth on(power switch at back) do you get the option factory reset? If so do it and run through set up using defaults and let it scan channels. Save and then flash with - flash_120309.tbn from EX7000 forum . After flashing there are no keys or anything else to enter, it just works! Good luck

Hey, thanks for the reply. The screen on the display simply says, "NOW BOOTING" when I power on and off and goes into operation. My problem is that I cannot enter any of the left hand menu options or EZ install or EZ Config menus, even after I enter the PIN.

If you enter the PIN incorrectly, do you get a error message of any kind?

                    Hi Ravster,

Did you get any further with this?

I changed my pin with a view to locking out 'certain' channels, but inadvertinately applied it to the menu!

Now I cannot access the menu bar at all.

Similar problem to you - when i press the menu button I'm prompted for a pin. But upon entering the pin it simply disappears and i cannot advance to the menu screens,

                    Anyone?

                      Eurovox ex3000 config

                      Hi Guys,

I've just had this problem, basically what you need to do is press the power button on and straight away hold on to the menu button on the BOX and this then should allow you to rest factory and rest channel. Then just do the usual power scan. Good luck. I meant ex 7000.
