help ex5100 not responding to remote

hi got brand new ex5100 and flashed it with firmware from the downloads section, did factory reset and deep scan, once the scan finished and channels cleared the remote control stopped working,i can change the channels with the controls on the front of the box but nothing happens with the remote, sometimes if i press the menu button the timer settings come on instead of the menu.i have changed the batteries but still no joy,is the box faulty or the remote? thanks in advance

Either way one of them's faulty. Where did you get it from? Could you send it back? If you know somebody else who has one borrow their remote to test it, or try your remote on their box.

Have a look at the led on the remote in the dark, it should flash red when u press any button to see if the led is ok.
May be the remote sensor on the box is faulty.
U could just try flashing the box again as I remember reading somewhere the same and a reflash resolved the problem.

yeah they use the same remote so it does sound like the sensor on the box. I'd send it back

You can check to see if the remote is working by looking at the LED through a phone camera (or a digital camera) and pressing the remote buttons you should see it light up.

sounds like youre saying the remote was ok till you flashed it so i would suggest a full factory reset through the system menus then reflashing the box.
