hello, i am a total noob please help me

hi all

please forgive me if i ask questions that have been asked a million times before, but i have 24hrs to get a eurovox up and running, thing is - i know pretty much nothing about them!

i was given one the other day, apparantly it was working but its not been updated with the new codes so atm no channels are on it

now, i have the latest codes, but from reading this forum it seems another upgrade is to upgrade the firmware

so, my first question is should i do both the firmware and the codes?

and secondly, the box is apparantly a eurovox max v - i have been told there are clones, red, blue - so how do i find out which one i have?

and lastly, is this guide the best one to follow regarding updating the codes?

Welcome to the forum. Why the time limit to fix it? All you need can be found at the top of the section you are in now look at the red stickies Eurovox

One question are you in Ireland or the UK? Please do not post invites on the forum.

No problem and thanks for reading the rules The stickies contain all the information you require to flash the box. Please note there are also clone Max V boxes, if purchased recently it will more than likely be a clone.

If you got it second hand you need to find out when it was purchased. If you are unable to or prefer to enter codes then please follow the link in your first post to manually update the codes.

i have read the guide to identifying my box, but not 100% sure, have uploaded it would appreciate some help in IDing it

if you look at the white wires thay are joined together in a ribbon on a clone thay are single and a mess also there is red paint on the screws on a clone there are other sings but thay are the main one's so i think your box is ok but as satsmo has said if your not sure then put the codes in manually, i dont have one of these boxes now but i think it's menu then the yellow btn

well i dont have a null modem cable, so have just put the new keys in, didnt find any channels so i am doing a scan

do i need to change anything else, i have read something about the rate or something?

Yes dependent on where you are follow the guide http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...settings-9789/ and this is under the presumption that you have a live feed.

you say you are in ntl pure so type 54 01 as the provider then the coads when scanning the symbol rate will be 6887

nah, i think i have tho.. i am using the pure ntl codes, from a program called keymaster

i am in swindon area, i think its pure ntl although i may be wrong!

i dont have any card with this do i need a card also?
