Eurovox 5100 set up

Hi, i have just purchased a 5100 PVR, do i have to flash the unit before I scan for the channels ? I have attempted to scan following the manual instructions, but it does not even come up with the standard free to air channels ?
Help please ?

Hi and welcome to DK
normally they come with the free to air firmware installed and you need to put on the latest firmware to unscramble all the channels.
however you should still be able to pick up some channels so you must be doing something wrong.
you need the cable feed into the rf in socket and you need to scan on the correct symbolrate, in the UK it will be either 6887 or 6952 depending on who your original provider was.

also if u are from the croydon telewest area u might have a problem scanning anyway u would need to get a channel dump from a 1000sl this is for both the 5000 5100
