Remove hardrive & check pins are not bent (always switch off before
inserting or removing hardrive). Insert hardrive,give a final gentle push
to engage pins. When hardrive is inserted properly door will close
without bulging. Don't handle with bare hands to avoid static.
If you didn't buy hardrive from box supplier it may need to be formatted.

when you try to record the first time onto an empty drive be aware that it can take up to five minutes for the recording to actually start, so what to do is always leave about five minutes of recording on the drive at all times, check some of the threads to see more about recording issues.
