Is there tutorial how to add programs to you favs,ex5100

    Hello.
Just setup my new EX5100,it is now up & running,so im just exploring how it all works, after reading plenty on this site, good site it is to.
I have looked for some reports or tutorials on how to add some programs to my 10 channel favourites, for the EX5100,but cant seem to find any.
I would be grateful if someone could explain to me the process please.
    Thanks.

      chic.
Sorry i didnt get back to you quicker.
      i know what you mean.
when i first scanned the box, then pressed fav key,i had 10 channels,itv,bbc1,bbc2,channel4,itv2,etc,but channel 5 was missing.
when i pressed TV on the remote the rest of the channels was disorganised.no problem.
what i wanted to do was delete a couple of channels out of my 10 channels in fav key,and put a couple of channels back in,such as sky sports&channel 5.

i tried to do that by doing what you said, and it did give me different catoragies, like sport, movies, kids, facts, but they had all moved over to my fav key.
Just want to know how to swap over some channels out of my other groups, and put them in the group i need them in.
hope you can understand what im trying to say here, hard to explain.
      Thanks.

        Hello m8,
go >menu>channels>add fav>ok>000, u will see coloured hearts.
left hand side u see group options(popular...ent...movies...sport)
if u press FAV button on remote these options change.
use FAV and colour buttond to change options and channels.
SLOWLY, OUR FREEDOM IS BEING ERASED.

          I will try that.
Is there anyway of deleting all my favs on the fav key on remote,(without deleting them all from my box)then i can sort them out as you told me.?
Just want channels 1 to 9 on my fav key, such as bbc, itv, etc,so my wife can just use buttons 1 or 2 up to 9,without pressing certains buttons, just like the vm remote?
          Thanks

              Go to CHL.MANAGER----ADD FAVOURITES---OK
Scroll down thru chl. list until you hi-lite chl. to be removed from FAV.
If chl. is marked with red icon, hit red key once to remove red icon.
This will remove chl. from FAV but will not delete from total list.
Likewise if a chl. has yellow icon, hit yellow key once to remove icon
To add chl.to Any FAV list; remove existing colour icon (if any) & replace
              with desired colour.
Unfortunately the four colour icons are double-jobbing, when you hit FAV key while on this page colour icon titles will change.
i.e. yellow icon will change from sport to music etc.
Just be aware of it if you hit coloured key & chl. is marked twice by same
colour key it will be present in both fav lists, uncheck the icon whitch is
              not required.
General rule is to follow prompts on bottom of page.

Thats what i thought,it went good until i turned off the box last night to go to bed.
Rebooted today, and the box kept switching on and off.
Pulled the power plug in& out several times, and eventually it came on.
Then went to play a program National Geo,and the picture went all different colours, then the box froze, couldnt turn it off or on with the remote
pulled the plug, and after several times,i had it going again.
Dont know if its a dodgy power connection
                    on box,or what?
                    Thanks.

It's not good enough to wonder is power connection good
Get off your a--e & check it. No one here can do that for you.
When you have verified power supply, check all co-ax leads,
fittings, etc. Make sure all leads are in right connections.
Also ensure scart is properly. Anything looks dodgy replace it.
Remember, don't wonder, make sure. If you need a torch & mirror
go get them. Hope you sort it out.

I have a friend who is having the same problem with his 5100 pvr box, when you plug it in it boots up, after a few secs it reboots again for no reason and keeps repeating it. He has opened it up and all looks fine inside. Is there anywhere in particular he should be looking ie caps diodes??

First off, don't ever open anything that'd under warranty. There's a seal onall E'vox's, once box is open seal is broken.
Firstly, ensure all cables (power & co-ax,scart) & fittings are sound.
In menu go to TV Settings, Make sure signal booster is on.
Always hit RED to save any changed settings.
                          Next; MENU--OK--1968--1968--hit BLUE(default key)
                          Then; MENU--User Installation--POWER SCAN
Scan 200Mhz to 800Mhz using correct Symbol rate for your area
Set step at 8, Start scan.
A fac.reset is optional before power scan, but normally unnecessary.
If you choose to fac.reset, you must enable emulator after scan.
                          MENU--OK--1968---enable emulator.
For UK & Chorus cable use 5100 fix JAN 2009
ON N*L (eire) use Nagra2 fix July 2009.
If box is still not OK, try in friend's house.
Failing all this contact supplier re. 12 month warranty.

You are not answering the question the person is asking, same as you didnt with me.
Its no good telling people to get off their A**e like you did me,thats downright ignorant,if you cant answer people in a social and polite way, then dont bother giving poeple any info, they dont come on here to listen to sarcastic and cheap comments from you.
i had my box working from info from decent people on here, and even did the cdf on my pc
If those people had been like you,no-one would learn anything.
All he and me asked why it kept going on and off after it had been turned off overnight.
You tell him to do this and that, but you cant do anything if you cant use the remote, except keep pulling the plug out to make it work.
If you havent an answer for that question, instead of assuming what they arent doing,(obviously they have checked the cables like i did)then keep your cheap comments to yourself.

Sorry, Marine, for my lack of clarity, & my failure to pick up on the fact that
you could not access the menu. A re-flash would be the option in this case.
