ex1000sl no channels no transponder?

just got new EX1000sl. connected to pc via RS232. downloaded(Ithink) software but not sure if it uploaded to box as when connected to tv and power scanned result no channels and no transponder. Please tell me in laymen terms step by step guide to installing channels My PC is XP 5years old but is ok. Could I have put RS232 in wrong 9pin port and it hasnt downloaded software although it says it was successful but when I clicked the upload it went back to download. In Edit says no bits. So Im totally confused
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi and welcome to dk i dont have one of these boxes so not to sure but when you scan did you use the correct symbol rate for your area 6887 or 6952.

Re-flash box with firmware 1000sl (1/12/2008)
You flashed it right first time; thats why it said flash success.
So just click top download & don't touch upload button.
Next do a POWER SCAN from 200MHZ to 800MHz
Use sym rate 6952 & step 8. Make sure cable is in RF in.
If no chls. found change SYM rate to 6887 & re-scan

Problems
1 No Transponder
2 No Channels
3 No TPS 000
(After power scanning twice).
Downloaded s`ware from 4 share said it was successful.
Dont know if its uploaded to box. How can u tell?
Should the RS232 cable (provided) be ok. ie. a crossover serial cable, what ever that means
B4 re flashing read upload ure Channel dump file to ure PC first. Whats that?
Lastly can I completly disconnect my VM box when successful?

ok first try and reflash again

when u scan u should at least get ya FTA channels (free 2 air)

U say disconnect ya VM box......are u connected Via a splitter eg.... do u have TV and boradband coming from same place

IF SO take splitter off and rescan ya box from feed from wall 2 ya box try that

Your null modem rs232 cable is fine if screen said flash success
Go to SYSTEM INFO. in menu & note what S/W version is there
Come back here with system info. details
Before you do any more check TV cable is in RF IN, & make sure other end
of cable is connected to an active TV point.
Did you scan using 6952 & 6887

i am having the same problem, flashed with the software and it only picked up 4channels. i did power scans, deep scans on both 6952 and 6887 and nothing. then i took it to a mates, he flashed it on his pc and was no good. then he tried it with the no sort firmware and scanned at his, it picked up channels. then tried the the other software and nothing, got it back to mine and still nothing. i also noticed that the signal strength is low, in the red.

Why did you re-flash box at mates house if it picked up chls.
Try 1000sl (1/12/08) fix. Before you scan make sure TV cable & fittings
are sound. Put cable into RF IN & connect other end to PROV outlet.
Power scan 200MHz to 800MHz SYM rate 6887 , leave STEP at 8
If no luck change symbol rate to 6952 & scan again.
If necessary scan at mates house, if it works at mates house then try it
at your house. If doesn't work then you have a weak signal.
Come back here for more help if need be & state location,box type,and
firmware used. Good luck

its scanned with 24/02/09 nosort darx, box is ex1000sl and i'm in birmingham.

i scanned it at the in-laws and it worked fine. got back home and connected it up in the bedroom and no signal, but the virgin box works fine there. connected it in the living room where the other ex1000sl is and it sort of works, the picture is pixelated. think a signal booster may help? its weird that the signal is good enough for one box but not the other.
