connection problems

How do i make sure my pc/laptop is talking/communicating with my eurovox, i have checked all com ports and set everything to com port 3 but yet i dont seem to be able to connect to the box using UFL_EX1000SL_24-02-09_DarX. Is there something i am missing, please help !!!

When i connect with my laptop it is com 1 i use but my laptop has a serial port,if you are using a usb to serial adaptor it may be different

on the laptop i am using usb as this converts to the 9pin cable i use to connect to the eurovox
