    Worried

    Hi guys,

you've all been very helpfull in my previos threads and i was hoping of a similar outcome in this one, please take in to context i'm new to this and am not that technically minded so if i'm asking a dumb question please forgive me!

I have ordered an EX7000HD box, and it is due to be sent out from the shop on thursday. I ordered this box as it seemed to be the simplest one for an eejit like myself.

I am worried now however as i am reading about Nagra 3 (i have no idea what this is could someone explain) being put out in Northern Ireland and causing all channels to be scrambled again, is this going to happen in UK mainland? Will it make my box useless? have i just wasted my hard earned cash?

    thanks in advance guys

nagra 3 has not been rolled out in northern ireland, it is in southern ireland only. it might happen in the uk at some stage, but would be at least six months down the line, although they might go a different route, iptv. So any changes in the uk are quite a while away.

nagra 3 is just the name for an encryption method, the uk is currently on nagra 1, most of the republic of ireland went to nagra 2 a few months ago and are now being moved to nagra 3, which is more sophisticated and hasn't been cracked yet.

Why are we only on Nagra 1 if they have done Nagra 2? did they decide it's not any good or something? How long does it take to decrypt these new encryptions normally? Should i still get my box? thanks again

The uk is on nagra 1 because they are different cable companies to ireland. You should be glad you are nagra 1. Upc had to upgrade a lot of the boxes in ireland and send out new cards capable of decoding nagra 2 and 3 which cost a lot of money.

The companies in england might go to iptv, which is a different method of encryption, or maybe n3. Nothing can happen there for a while yet anyway without them upgrading equipment, so yes go ahead and get your box.

And as to how long it takes, nagra 2 took a month or so, nagra 3 hasn't been cracked anywhere in the world yet.

Nagra 2 has been cracked right? THe firmware update came out, however it has yet again stopped service in Ireland right? .... Nagra 3 will surely get cracked when needed I guess, these people on the forums and net have it sorted

Don't worry, just brought my box a month ago, working smoothly, hoping to get atleast a year out of it

it's currently being used in the ALL over the world, by a lot more people than would be using it in the UK.

As i understanf it IF it was hackable, it would have been done elsewhere by now. Sky has a similar encryption and hasn't been hacked.

when you do things illegally you pay your money you take a chance..

sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt..

think of it this way.. a full XL package on VM is ?21.50..
so if you get 8 months out of your box you have broken even
