help can't connet box to laptop

really glad to see dk back up an running been on a few other fourms but had no decent replies. so hope trusy dk users can help me. i am having mega trouble getting my 1000sl o connect to my laptop i have the usb to serial converter an a null modem cable. was using the programme voxer to try to make a cdf file for my box because i get sick of having to re order all my channels after a re scan. voxer managed to find the box once after an hour of trying it came up with all my channels i re ordered them and saved the cdf file. when i came to connest the box back up to upload the file it won't find n gives the mesage eurovox could not be found check settings and connections and try again. i have even bought a new null modem cable incase it was that. i am totally confused now why it connected once. by the way my laptop is runnng windows vista

did you check the com port connection ports 1-4 in device manager.

Hi m8 i have read of quite few members are having problems connecting to the box using a laptop and usb and running vista can you get access to a pc running win xp ps i have had no problems with a usb converter and win xp

you could try downloading it via the Unified Flash Loader
also if you put the nosort firmware on your box or turn off the fav sort option before you update channels they wont get jumbled up.

i have used my dads desk top that also runs vista but has the serial port an it worked straight away so i loaded the non sort firmware on to it. i would still like to be able to use my laptop though don't want to have to drive 15 mile just to flash it . has any1 managed to use a usb converter and vista??

Hi m8, YES, i have used Vista on both a desktop and laptop to update boxes. Using a desktop with serial socket was no problem and worked first time.

However when using with laptop, did cause a problem the first time but this was easly fixed by making sure the correct COMM port was selected(and not being used by anything else)and also using the updated correct drivers for the usb converter.

Alot of other members have the same issues but its just a matter of sorting out the comm ports and making sure the latest drivers are installed for the usb adaptor.

do you have any drivers for the usb adapter i have tried all sorts off the internet. the laptop know i have the adapter connected but never piks up the box even though voxer says its scanning the port its connected to
