    E5100 PVR Flashing problems!!

Hi there everyone, i have bought the mentioned box and struggling to flash it. First, i bought a "USB TO MALE RS232 DB9 SERIAL NULL MODEM CABLE ADAPTOR" in order to adapt the cable that come with the box to my laptop. When i run the flashing programme on my laptop it says

"waiting to recieve signal from reciever"

    Is this the right adaptor?
when i run the software that came with the adaptor there is no indication that it has been installed.

Should the cablebox appear in "my computer"?

    Thankyou

Hi m8, when you get that message, turn the power to the receiver OFF then ON. If its on the correct Comm port it should load.

Right, i have tried turning the power on and off to no avail. I have also dowloaded the USB software off the link concerning cables and adaptors which said "installed sucessfully". The adaptor that i have is shown in the link: USB TO MALE RS232 DB9 SERIAL NULL MODEM CABLE ADAPTOR on eBay (end time 14-Oct-09 14:36:55 BST)
        Is this the right adaptor?

        please help!

have you connected it using a null modem cable (ordinary rs232 cable will not work)
can you see your usb adaptor in Device Manager

Do you need internet connection when you are flashing the box?

Mi 8, you need to change to COM port 1.
usually it works fine on ports 1 to 4.

Brilliant. Yes it was the Com port. I changed it and everything worked fine. Thankyou.

I now have a problem with the HDD. It is saying that it is "HDD not inserted or full". Any ideas?

It will always give that message, if it has nothing recorded on it.
Best thing to do is record something for 5 minutes and always leave that on the HDD, then the message will not display.

And well done for getting the box sorted
