urgent help needed for ex5100 pvr

ok have had this box about 4 days and cannot get it to record properly
i will try to explain what happens as best i can
i go into timer section from menu
and select to record every day from 18.00 finish 18.30 from channel 5
it seems to record the first 2 days then after that if i switch box on from stanby comes on but cannot move channel up or down or any thing have to switch off at mains then back on again
any help please

ps could do with a copy of original firmare for fta

what size hd is it? and if answer is lower than 120gig i know a lot of people with problems,and when a larger hd bought it works a treat.

i got one of these 3 days back and what a pile of crap mine wont record full stop its says recording but nothing happens the timer dont work either i managed 4 seconds the first day i got it now when i try to play them it crashes and it wont delete it either it crashes again. yet two of my mates have these and they work spot on i think its luck of the draw with these.
