    eurovox max blue packed in

hi all, my eurovox blue has eventually packed up. if i tell you whats happened to it maybe someone can tell me if its repairable or if i need to sling it and get another one.it started about 2months ago when the numbers on the lcd display started flickering madly and the red, green and amber leds started doing the jig as well!! the box was still working fine in all ways even with its disco dancing display, but just suddenly stopped last weekend.all you get on its display now is the 2 green dots on the time display and nowt else, not even the leds.and nothing comes thru to the tv at all,the tv doesnt even detect the box is there, any help will be much appreciated, many thanks, M

    Hi,

Sounds to me like the power supply board has packed in.

If you are good at soldering you can check for blown capacitors as this is usually the problem and replace them.

Otherwise you can buy a new board resonably cheap from fleabay or other places. And they are straight forward to fit.

You can get a replacement at Maplins for less than a quid. You will need a 16V 1000uf electrolytic capacitor.

              Maplin's Part No. is VH50E.

The blue Eurovox was first introduced in 2006 at the time 6.3V was the recommended value, but bad caps have been the main culprit for failure.

So as said at the time it was the correct value but since it was discovered that not only were bad caps used in production but that the voltage value needed to be increased. So hence the recommended increase to 16V 1000uf.

The blue box you have was probably the best box of the older Eurovox Max range. It had the best tuner by a mile and so is worth fixing.
