Dead EX5000

I have been running an EX5000 PVR for about 9 months, I was using UK UFL EX5000 with Autosort 051208 firmware on it and decided to upgrade to the latest version, all seemed to have gone well until yesterday morning where the box froze, I powered it off and back on only to find that the front display no longer works, the front panel is dead; further investigation leads me to believe the box was a clone and that I now need to Jtag the thing back to life; this brings me to a further quandry, what TSOP files do I need to flash, and what firmware can I load back to it when and if I get the thing in a semi useable state. The documentation pertaining to required files and programs is next to none existent for the EX5000.

same motherf****n thing happened to me,wont power on whatsoever after new firmware,you sure you got a clone,mine isnt,when i get time im gona jtag,let us know how you get on,cheers.

Hi Mickey, I am suprised mine is a clone but looking at the documentation around the net if it has a silver heatsink on the main processor then its classified as a clone (you can se this through the case)

Hi i load my box with the same software, mine went the same, its not a clone, i thing there was something wrong with the software, JTAG'ed and re inputed the old soft ware, worked ok. you may have to get and extention cable, you may find the jtag they send you is to short. got mine from maplins 21 pin

sorry mate you miss under stood , i got the jtag off ebay with software. but the jtag is a short lead, you need what looks like the old 1980,s printer lead,to make an extention. take ya jtag to maplins, to make sure ya get the right ends,

why don't you name and shame the sites selling clones and is it not about time that we had a list of websites selling clones ,there is a strong rumour going round that the ex 1100 and starview 5 are cloned allready ?

We have had many such threads but they turn into a slagging contest between suppliers in the end. Most of the trusted sellers are known here.
