    Eurovok EX1100 HDD problem

First of all thanks for the tip on using Open DNS. Can't access the site through my ISP.

My problem is that my EX1100 won't find my HDDs. I have tried a Maxtor 60gb IDE drive & a WD 200GB IDE trough a USB HDD enclosure. All I get from The USB disk menu is USB plug in. Consequently I can't record to HDD,

I have formatted the disks to FAT16 & FAT32 in both Windows & DOS (XP)

Both HDDs work fine in Windows. I also tried an external 320gb WD USB HDD but I borrowed this and I couldn't format it as it had data on it {probably NFTS)

The USB port on the Eurovox finds any USB memory stick I plug in.

I'm beginning to think it's a problem with the IDE HDDs & perhaps I should purchase a large external USB HDD which will have a mdern SATA inside

However I'm reluctant to fork out another ?50 in case it doesn't work.

Can anyone help me with this please.

I have tried other forums whilst DK has been down and noone seems to have an answer.

Hoping that someone on here can help

Hi, what you should try is formatting the hard drives with swissknife from the download section or fat32 formatter from google. these pieces of software can convert hard drives greater than 32gb to fat32 unlike windows.

Thanks but I've used both these apps. Can someone let me know what HDDs they are using with the EX1100. It may be that the EX1100 doesn't like older IDE drives. Just a thought.

Thanks for that. Is anyone using an IDE HDD with this box?

I appreciate this is a year ago but I'm looking for info on certain dives. However, I found that the only compatible drives are Buffalo Drivestations. I tried several different and reputable drives but only these worked. And they work well but they've gone up since I bought my 1TB HDD
