Updating Codes..help!

Hi all, I've lost all my channels on my Eurovox1000SL (west Midlands area) and keep getting the message: please wait, updating codes..what does this mean and what do I do? I have random leads: USB serial adapter and a dongle SL-901? but haven't the faintest idea what to do..help? (oh, and please explain to me as though I was a 3 yr old, as this is the only way I will succeed in doing what I need to correctly).
Look forward to getting my channels back

read the red stickies on updating firmware also on what cables you need at the top of the eurovox section.

I don't know how..but I did it!

Thank you...can you believe it took me longer figuring out what 'stickies' were and where to find them duh.. than downloading the fimware...
