    Eurovox help

    Hiya,

My dad has an old Eurovox box and recently his remote control stopped working....since registering here i'm wondering if i'm using the correct firmware?!

I had a look at the difference between a clone box and real box and everything at the moment is pointing towards a clone (apart from the red paint on the motherboard screws!)

I read that if i put real firmware on a clone it will brick it...but does this also happen if i put clone firmware on a real box....just in case im wrong and it IS a real box??

Cheers for the help in advance

    You're friendly neighbourhood Newbie!

And if it is a clone -- you've got a very attractive door stop

      Good Luck !!

Thanks for getting back to me folks.....

I was sent a file to 'flash' the box with by someone who supposedly knows about this kinda thing, but for some reason it just isnt working and keeps making the box go onto standby (off-on-off-on)

Now having downloaded the eurovox 2 firmware i still cant quite grasp why the channels arent working at all....only about 8 channels are actually working...the rest are locked. Iused to just use the Bigmaq toobar thing to update the codes, but i was pressuming when you updated the box you didnt need the codes entered manually?!

Kinda at a loss here, coz i'm definitely not sure what my next move is??

Any further help would be greatly received

        Thanks

Hi Buddy, sorry your still having problems!

Is the firmware EUROVOX 2uk AU fix 291108 [1.59 mb] ??

If it isn't - here's the Link from the stickies at the top of the EUROVOX forum: 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download EV 2 UK AU Fix 291108.rar

I trust you've read satsmo's excellent guide on How to flash a Eurovox??!! Very clear and concise and well tested by Trainee Lunatics like me!!

only about 8 channels are actually working...the rest are locked.
Bear with me that the following is from my EVOX BLUE [I've never used an EVOX2 -- hopefully, they are fairly similar??!!]

Install the above mentioned FIRMWARE - make sure your BOX is disconnected from the Cable Supply - and FLASH it -- The firmware should now be flashing to the box. (dnld) will appear flashing on the front display... Once flash has completed (0000) should appear on front of the Box.

When I had this problem [and now the story really starts] I went into MAIN MENU ->CONFIG->CLEAR DATA then FACTORY DEFAULT on 6952 [basically starting with a clean system after all the Cobwebs have been cleaned out] and did a FULL SCAN.

Cup of strong Black Coffee later, that was done. I then put the NAG CODES in from KEYMASTER 1.2 [available in downloads here or just google "KEYMASTER 1.2 -- it's FREE] - and got 263 Channels.

The Codes rolled again the following morning - but [OH HAPPY DAY] - the BOX auto-updated - I just left it on a scrambled channel.

My EVOX BLUE firmware is virtually the same date as yours BTW - so your BOX should auto-update as well !!

I hope this is some help - It's mainly from memory - I'm sure the other Guys reading this will correct any obvious errors I've made??

Let us know how you progress!

Don't throw it out the window just yet!

          All the best

                Ok a quick update then....

After installing the firmware that Bvilleuk had suggested i hooked the box up and the remote control is still not working, but using the menu button on the box i managed to get into the channels Manager and found that the channels are still all locked (over 1000 channels) and also they channel names are in Turkish (or some other Eastern European) language!

Again the help was much appreciated guys....but any ideas where i would go from here?

                Cheers

use the camera on your mobile phone to see if the remote works look through the phone like you were taking a photo point the remote at it and press a btn if you can see it flash then its ok if not then its gubed you can get 1 on ebay when you get one that works do a factory reset to clear all channels then do a power scan using the symbol rate for your area when you have all the channels press menu>config>tv>ok scroll to emulation and enable it
if i helped hit the thanks btn

Have done the camera thing and the remote looks ok as the light comes on ok....the other problem i have is that after i do find the correct software i need to find out how to powerscan without the remote control (if this is possible) as the remote is not working!

Hmmm...ok thats not really what i was hoping to hear but i think i'll have to deal with that!

Although...i did read somewhere about this happening to someone and they jtagged their box and got it working with a eurovox max control.....think this might be worth a go?? A nd if so, how the hell do i do it??

By the way....still not sure what software im supposed to be flashing this box with anyways!

                        Cheers Again
