    Non detection of USB...ahhhhhhh

Hi all, ive been trying to install the firmware onto my ex1000usb for the last 4 hours after reading hundreds of posts but still cant get it onto the box.

The last box i had was already firmware ready so all i did was plug it in scan and off i went but with this new box im really struggling

When i go to tools in the menu it wont let me opt for upgrade by usb only by RS232. Iv also tried following the guide for newbies (like myself) but in the Record box it doesnt let me opt for HDD format the only choice i have is usb disk status.

Does anyone know where im going wrong? Ive tried at least 20 times now but still no joy.

If the box wont allow me to upgrade by usb shoud i just buy the null modem wires and do it that way???

    Cheers

Hi m8, try loading the firmware with the null modem cable, you might be lucky>Digital Kaos - Downloads - EX1100USB RS232 loader

I don't have this box so this is what I have read in other posts

put the usb pen into the box with the power off and then power up the box
then menu/record/HDD format/ and format the pen drive
remove power from the box and remove usb pen
put pen into PC and put firmware on it
set box up to TV and with with power off the box insert usb pen and then power box up
menu/tools upgrade by usb/ highlight the firmware and press red button to start upgrade

Had this problem myself. Its down to the type of file system on your hard drive. It won't recognise NTFS, or the (New Microsoft Format) exFAT. It will only recognise Fat32. If you have Vista with service Pack 1, it now won't give you the option for Fat32,just exFAT or NTFS. I have aqquired a third party fromat tool which formatted my external hard drive in seconds, then hey presto, USB find and PVR was behaving as it should do. Any probs, email me!
