Bought my mum a eurovox ex 1100 usb for crimbo, Virgin feed in Lincoln - no channels found, signal 28%. Will try putting the firmware on and let u know how it goes.

its all down to you its working so thanks mate , the only problem i have now is not a major one but just a i carnt get any info on whats on , the now and next onlyworks on some of the channels and the epg is almost empty so u never know what films are on or on that day , is there anything i can do ???

Latest firmware solves this. It is the last one on the list ending in 'patch':

Use the 'upgrade by usb' option, the same as you would have done before. You'll prob need to do a rescan of channels after again. Definitely worth it though. The EPG loads up immediately (the latest firmware also solves some other issues like the occasional screen freezing).

Download broke my box

Hi,

I just clicked this link, downloaded the firmware and upgraded by usb but now my box just goes black and i cant access channels or the menu.

I need to do a factory reset but cant access the menu so can anyone help?

I would advise not using the firmware available in the link from the previous post.

F'in hell!! So sorry! It's definitely not the firmware, although I had the same problem on one of my boxes. When the firmware loads correctly, the box works perfect (EPG & everything). I feel really bad about this having recommended the firmware, so will make it my mission to get you back up and running.

Here is what you need to do:

Download this software from the same link above:

EX1100USB_UPG_TOOLS.rar & unzip it.

1, Borrow/buy/use a serial cable (rs232 null modem cable) and use a computer that has a serial port on the back.

2, Copy the old firmware that previously worked for you onto this computer (the computer with the serial port).

3, Plug the serial cable into the eurovox box and into your computer, then turn your box on. Go into 'Control Panel' -> 'Device Manger' and make sure the serial port is set to 'bits per second' 115200. Also make sure 'Parity' is 'None' (although that should be default). Also note the the 'Com' port that it says is being used.

3, Load the upgrade.exe program and set '115200' as the bit rate (matching the same as in 'Device manager') and Parity: None, also set the 'Com' port matching that in 'Device Manager' (probably Com 1) then click 'connect'.

4, It will say 'Sync to serial..' and if all good, a few seconds later a new menu will appear. From this menu select 'maincode' and then point to your old firmware on the computer. This will load your old firmware back on the box and will work the same as it did before.

5, Now your box is back working, go into 'Tools' -> 'Factory Setting' -> 'Erase All Channels'. Also repeat the process and select 'Factory Setting' -> 'Factory Setting' to get your box clean (to be sure the flash doesn't fail again).

6, Finally, use the 'upgrade by usb' and the firmware I originally recommended again and it should flash fine this time around. You'll need to rescan for the channels again but you'll have an instant full EPG and other improvements from the firmware you were originally using.

I am trying to fix by upgrading by rs232 however my problem is the box wont stay off.

I am trying to connect to it but the box always turns itself on and the only way to turn it off is to unplug.

Once I plug it back in again it it turns itself back on within seconds.

As a result when i try to connect via the rs232 nothing happens.

Can you think of anything else that could fix this?

It isn't the purple light prob you have it's the 'AV Signal Kill' prob (although the fix is the same for the purple light prob ie reflash box from rs232 with loader software). I had the same on one of my boxes. If I'm right, then the prob you have is that when you turn the box on (from the wall socket), you will see a channel (probably a music channel) and then when you press anything on the remote the AV signal goes off and it's as if your scart isn't plugged in.

It doesn't matter that your box stays on. It is the 'connect' button on the upgrade software that sends the signal down the cable to the box (not the turn on of the box itself).

You can plug the cable in the serial port of the box with it turned on if you want.

I wrote a full thread on the problem just (Av Kill Prob), perhaps follow that step by step and let me know if that solves it.

Problem solved and EPG also fixed!

Managed to fix av kill prob once I got the right cable (Note to anyone trying this get the L71BT not the L68BT).

Then made sure I erased all channels and reset to factory settings.

Reflashed this latest file and now epg is fixed. This makes the box so much more usable.

Note to anyone trying to update to this latest flash version make sure you delete all channels and revert completely to factory settings first.

It is worth it for the working epg.

sellers are not allowed to sell the box with the upgraded firmware, although some do. Unless the seller specifically stated that it comes with updated firmware assume it comes with only the basic firmware. There is no reason not to use that firmware you said.

i don’t really want to spend too much, so which would you recommend? i would like a hardrive with it (no matter whether its internal or external).
