does anyone know if the new firmware for the 7000 improves the epg. I am in the t/w southwest area and my favs are ok so i dont want to risk the new firmware unless it improves the epg standard. GREEN ARMY!!!!!!

New update for 7000
Id hang on a minute before updating, mines just locked up on trying. The same software worked OK on my brothers, but minutes later has locked mine saying ''hanelm'' in the channel window. Not sure how to recover either as the menu is not accessable. -

Yeh , happened to me aswell , flashed box & the box froze on reeboot , I just reflashed with the sep 21st beta flash & then system reset & then downloaded the all data.tbn file I made as a back up , all back the way it was . I think the rar has got corrupted somehow , not sure though
Hang on , just tried again but pushed the channel up button just as it finished booting & its not froze now (seems like it was freezing on the "you have non standard equipment" warning channel) , got into menu , factory reset & now power scanning

Ive just copied the up button pressing that you did, when coming out of booting, and got to the factory reset button (for the first time since yesterday), now Im scanning, fingers crossed. Hope yours went ok too.

I might have been a bit premature with the epg statement , been right through the channels & 50% of channels have no info beside , although I did find with the previous flash if I left the box on 24/7 epg data was fine , problem is when you put box into standbyComment

I installed the new 7000 firmware last night and the favs and epg were fine, however when switching on today the epg has gone, surely i haven,t got to do another full scan again?Comment

brilliant EPG
I've used all three of the 7000hd firmware and the new Dec 3rd 2009 version is brilliant, with 12 groups instead of the
normal 8, and most of the favs are already sorted for you,
the EPG works as it should, and its now easier to record stuff that's on later in the day.
I'm getting excited over something that should have worked
from day one, but thats what we are used to in this game.

I think the firmware must work differently in different parts of the country because as far as i am concerned it is pants, the epg is just as bad and the favs are all over the place. I have tried numerous rescans and its ok for a while but then goes tits-up. I am reverting to my original trusted firmware!Comment

I've reverted back EPG was no better, favs all over the place, timed recordings failed. It does appear that some boxes work well with the new firmware, guess it must be geographic. I'm in the Telford areaComment

I've noticed if I leave the box in standby overnight I get no info on all channels the next day , but if I switch the box of & on again (reboot) the epg comes to life , Im in an ex telepest area . It would be great if the source code of the firmware was made available so more people could work on the firmwareComment
