does anyone know how to scan and update for new channels without mixing up the order of the ones i already have.

first off its always a good idea to save a channel data file first in case of something going wrong
this is how on a Eurovox max v
Menu / Installation / Fast Install and press OK (enter pin)
Now press the red button on the remote for advanced install
Scroll down the options and turn Fav Sort off (if you have the nosort firmware on your box this option will not be there)
Press EXITon the remote control not OK and the frequency screen appears (if you press OK when you scan all your channel order will get sorted back to the default order)
Scroll to the frequency with the channels you want to update
Press OK on remote this will put a tick next to the frequency
Press the Blue Button on the remote to do a manual scan of that frequency
or if you want to update all frequencies press the red button to update all channels
