Does a Eurovox need time to initialise?

I am technically minded and can work most things out but when i flashed my EX5100 and switched it on i did the necessary scanning etc. and a normally scrambled channel came on and was ok for about 30secs or so. I then began trying other channels which weren't too bad so switched it off and installed a wideband 5-2400 Mhz cable splitter and this is where things started to go wrong.

[1] Channels were very choppy and reporting No Signal.
[2] Unplugged cable and checked connections.
[3] Started to get annoyed as virtually nothing was tuned in, not even free to view.
[4] Pissed off and switched off to leave overnight.

BINGO! - I Switched on the following morning and everything was working great? even when the ?+ box was on.

Was it the installation of the splitter or just one of those things? I don't know?

Its amazing sometimes that a switch off or better still unplugging, can clear up all sorts of problems ...somehow it lets the box sort itself out, the main thing is it now works ok,it was as you say just one of those things .....

did this depend on the type of splitter used or just the actual splitter being in line ?

It made no difference whether or not i used the splitter or a direct connection.

Splitter was a LabGear 5-2400 Hz with pass through.
