    The receiver not detected

    Hi i've got eurovox ex5100, I fellow the instruction in eurovox page. So when I tried to download the last firmware it displayed the receiver not detected and when I chosen the right com it displayed waiting for the response of your receiver.. what wrong I did could anyone give a guide please.
    what I did.
    first I downloaded firmare to pc then I opened
    then I pressed download then start then select com then ok. waiting for the response of your receiver and nothing comes after..

    basically your computer is not picking up your box
    are you using a null modem cable on its own or with a usb to rs232 adaptor (and are you sure the cable is a null modem type)

      I am using with a usb to rs232 adaptor, yes I'm sure its null cable cos I dream up with my dreambox. I checked com port it is the right one. I should update cos s/w is 6 jan ont 16 jan but I'm unable to update becos of problem I mentioned. thanks for help

        Hi m8, you need to make sure the drivers for the usb adaptor are updated and have the box power switched off and power on box when message comes. Also try/select it on comm ports 1/4.

          have you checked in device manager that your usb adaptor is connected to port 1,2 or 3

            I checked device manager its com 1 on laptop and on pc is com3 but I cant update my box I used on both pc and laptop same problem, can you guide me step by step..cheers

              does your PC have the 9 pin rs232 port so you only have to use the null modem cable

                No it hasnt I connected via usb adaptor rs232. I think i it might be there is a problem with the box itself not the port. in this case I have to return for exchange.. what is booter

                  when you go into device manager and you expand the ports COM & LPT can you see that your usb adaptor is connected

                      try as badapple suggested earlier might take a few goes, failing that it could be your box is faulty

                        WHAT IS BOOT MODE. STILL CANT SORT IT OUT.

                          not too sure but I think boot mode just means trying to load firmware whilst box is booting up ie set download away whilst power is off box and then switch box on

                            i am having the same problem when i go into the ufl program it is not picking up my box i have tried to find it changing the com but to no avail. i believe this is the cable i am using i also have the drivers installed any help would be great
