    Hi all,
    New to this.
Got a Eurovox EX 1000 sl and scanned it, it found lots of channels but apart from free channels the others are scrambled.
I have a null modem cable come today and have tried both ways (straight into the back of the computer and via usb extension) with cable. But it just says " receiver was not detected". Am i doing something wrong.
    Thanks in advance.
    ocopoc.

Eurovox Ex 1000 sl flash problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        Hi Portbhoy,
Of all people to get a reply from, a good old tic fan.
Thanks for that, but i do only have the printer port and (Com1) which i changed to Com2. I then put null cable in back of computer and in back of Euro box but still not detected.
I am probably being a pain and doing something wrong.
I need to read up and start from beginning i think.

In your com port settings if you press advanced set your bits per second to 115200 and save on exit turn off power to the box and connect with cables. Press download on the loader and flick the box on, should kick in then

Got to be someting in your settings mate, I have attached a WMV for you to look at pay special attention to all the settings. Only other thing I can think of is that the com port is disabled in the bios check that aswell

                    Hi,
I would like to say a big thank - you to Portbhoy, Yamar1, and Thered for all your help. I have been reading up on Null modem cable and apparently this is a cross over cable. So on one side of the cable for example (pin No2) that should marry up with (pin No3) on the other end and vice versa, this is to transfer data. Well i used my multi - meter and guess what lads, you guessed it, it works like pin No2 to pin No2 / pin No3 to pin No3. So after all that it is not even a null modem cable. I did buy it from ebay and it was described as a NULL MODEM CABLE.
But hey, I will try to get another and try again.
But i have never been on these sort of forum's before, i was a bit dubious whether to, but all i got was decent blokes trying to help.
Once again i cannot thank - you enough.
                    CHEERS LAD'S.

sounds like you mean you have a normal serial cable instead of a null modem cable, a crossover cable is different again, it plugs into an earthnet port that one.
