    I have a hum & faint lines

I have tonight, finally installed my Ex5000 . Anyway, after finding out that the space i intended it to fit was too small, and having to re-arrange my entire IT & AV equipment ( and thats a lot of kit ) I started up the unit, but was welcomed by a annoying hum through the tv speaker, and there is a slow moving line going vertically up the screen. The line and hum is not that noticeable, but i am a bit of a perfectionist. I thought i had narrowed the problem down to a speaker selection box, but after a while it was noticeable again. Has anyone had a problem like this ? Is it possible that a too stronger signal is causing this ? I am getting signal strength at about 85-90% as the power output was increased at the feeder pillar in the street when we had broadband problems about 1 month ago.

Have you set it to RGB and PAL in TV settings? Your signal is a bit on the high side, a 9Db attenuator will take it down to a more stable level.

Also have you tried turning the TV down and the EX up? I notice a small hum from my TV when the volume is turned up to high, as for the faint line I would try disconnecting all your other cables so that you have only the EV and tv going and see if the faint line persists, it maybe some sort of interference from one of your many "IT & AV equipment" also make sure you have the cables pluged in the correct scart socket at the back of your EV.

I shall try that later, when i get in from work...i am also going to pick up a variable attenuator. I am just a little worried about the noise, i hope it's not back-feeding up their line and causing noise back at the feeder pillar.. Many thanks for the help..
