    Eurovox problem

Had my Eurovox EX1000 about a week now. However, channels have been breaking up today periodically. Pretty bad this afternoon, but better tonight.

Not sure whether it's a problem with the box or signal from the cable?

Anyone experienced this or recommend solution? Is there a recommended signal booster out there?

    Any help appreciated. Cheers.

On the channels that are causing the problems press info twice and report back the signal strength %.

It can be down to lack of signal strength but also (stupid as it seems) that your signal is too high, we first need to know which it is.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I'm relieved that it sounds a signal problem and not the box!

I took the connections apart last night, fitted a 4 way connector and re-attached everything (including my VM box which I hadn't used it since setting up the Eurovox), making sure all the connections were tweaked up tight. There seemed to be less problems afterwards.

The tip about pressing info twice was useful.... thanks! Looking at the signal quality this morning, the levels are between 80% and 85%, with no problems as of yet. I will monitor it over the next few days for any changes.

jacksi.... not sure what you mean by 'you need to go in cab and go up a tap point'..... I am new to this sorry!!

80-85% providing its not jumping up and down is fine, if it goes much higher than 85% you will have picture break up and may get sound problems.

Regards to the cab LOL, he means the street cabinet outside.

Cheers mate, I'll be watching the signal levels from now on.

I certainly won't be messing round with anything in the street either....

Right then, further to my previous posts on this subject, I've noticed this morning that some channels are starting to break up (though not as bad yet as yesterday.

When checking the signal strength on a problem channel, it fluctuates quickly between 80% to 83% when the interference occurs. On channels which are OK, the signal strength seems constant (e.g. 84%). Is it likely that this fluctuation in strength is causing the problem? If so, what's the best way to steady it?

                  Once again, any advice appreciated!

you may need an attentunator not sure if i have spelt it right this may steady the signal and stop it fluctuating

Cheers, just ordered a variable one. I'll try anything if it sorts the problem!

I've bumped this in case it helps anyone else with a similar problem to me, but I seem to have solved it by re-doing all my co-axial connections.

I didn't really appreciate how important this seems to be, but the difference is clear with properly stripped and assembled co-ax connections.

I found this link set me on the right path.... Im a happy bunny now.
