You cannot transfer recordings between the EV and a PC. It will just format the drive and you will lose all recordings.

Bit of a oversight as you say and not exactly what it was advertised as. You can transfer recordings from EX5000 to EX5000 but as you said that isnt what you and others want.

As its a closed source box the type of format the EX use is not known. Linux based I would assume but even when used on a linux based PC it will still do the same thing and you will lose all your recordings.

The developers are aware of this but this hasn't been looked at to my knowledge.

Maybe there is a problem with your hard drive enclosure ?? I shall be getting a USB to IDE adaptor to transfer programmes from my hard drive....look at ebay item number 280231462402 This will do you fine, also it can be used for testing other pieces of hardware that require a 2.5" or 3.5" IDE connection...

As said its not the drive its a development issue.

Well thats useful to know, although i don't have one of these boxes but a couple of mates have them. I was heading towards viewing them via a linux os but as satsmo has advised with the above it would have been a nasty dead end..

i have an external enclosure that is not the problem as soon as you open it up in computer management you lose all recordings on the drive and the pc doesnt even read the drive but never mind you cant have everything for nothing,so if anybody is thinking of trying it dont bother it wont work that way

I am sure that i have seen a seller of this model advertising that you can connect it to a pc, so you can upload its files. I think i will try and find it again, and ask them if they have tried it for themselves...and if they did, did it work ??

I have taken this from the Rayyonics LTD website, and they recon you can connect the hard drive to a pc

"A Unique Design of the Hard Drive Slot on the Front means no Tools are required to Install one.
You can remove and share your Hard Drive with others to share your Media Library.
You can also connect the Hard Drive to a PC and download your Content To Store or Burn on to DVD.
It takes a IDE Laptop Hard Drive between 80gb/120gb giving you 40/60 hours worth of recording."

                            I am very confused

As I said its not as it was originally, (and still is), advertised.
