    VM TV smart card query

Hi Guys just a quick one.

I see VM are sending out these new TV Smartcards to people does that mean when people start using the new cards VM will be able to tell if your using a dodgy box then or will they not be able to detect that.

    Thanks.

No m8, vm cannot tell. When you receive your new card, stick it into the subbed box, it will make no difference to your dodgy box.
The dodgy box will only stop working when VM change the signal in your area.

new cards are been sent out for n3 switchover,
if youve got your new card, than means they'll be switchuing over soon and your dodgy box will soon stop working....

The reason for the new cards is simple...VM are changing to a new secure encryption system to stop all the dodgy boxes receiving their services for free.
Loads of areas/towns in the UK have already received their new cards, and their dodgy boxes have been terminated.

When you receive your new card, you will have about 2/4 weeks before your area is switched to nag3 encryption and then... blank screens.

The new encryption is not hacked, so no fix.

Do you guys think anybody will be able to get thier heads round this new nag3 encryption so we will be up and running again or is there no chance of that.

nag3 has been about for a few years, and its still secure.

Is it true that VM have been a bit lazy with the encryption though? ie their using their smart card to decrypt two seperate signals? One audio and one visual?
