EX1000 SL EUROVOX

I bought a eurovox1000sl over 12 months ago. The person I bought it off installed it. It has been ok, at times lost a few channels, but after deep scan got them back. Have noticed I seem to have lost quite a few or the channels are scrambled. I am a VM client and have just received a virgin media smartcard. On the reverse there is a logo nagravision, and on bottom right there is small print saying nagra id VG-04. I am not using the supplied VM box, but what happens if I dont install this card, or if I do install card. Any help please

areas are being updated if you dont use your card the box from provider will not work
all other non providers box are going down=no fix only their boxes will work with card.
