Recording using EX5000 pvr

I'm new here.
I'm having trouble actually getting my box to record. Seems the disc might be faulty/need formatting? Anyone know what the format should be. Can I do it on my pc? Instructions would be helpful.

Try re-inserting teh hard disk

I had similar problems when I first got one of these. I found it took 2 or 3 tries to get the hard-drive to slide fully into place. It seems it can be a bit tempremental. Pull the drive out completely (you remembered to stick a tag on it so you can remove it?) and insert with a firm push to get it to connect properly.

try removing the hard drive, blowing the connections and refitting. ide sometimes suffer with this problem. failing that and its a partition problem the box may able to format it, i cant confirm that as i dont have that model but if it doesnt id imagine it needs to be formatted as ntfs on a pc.

HDD install

Took me a while to figure out at first but....as long as the drive is pressed firmly into place then select a channel (any) and with no other functions running i.e JUST the channel picture - press record give it a few minutes then go to pVR manager and you should find an entry in the listing,job done!
As an afterthought you should also be aware that you can ONLY record the channel you are set on and viewing unfortunately.

PC and Formatting HDD

My HDD was formatted by using an external HDD caddy that takes a 2.5" HDD and is connected via the USB port to the PC. It is worthwhile buying one because if you wish to later edit,author and burn to DVD then it is essential kit. Make sure that the USB cable has TWO (2) USB plugs on one end and be certain to use two USB ports for the extra current required.
Plug into the PC first ! ! !
As already suggested make sure that you put a substantial 'handle' on the drive in order to remove/replace it in the eurovox.
I used the proper fixing screws at the front hole positions of the drive with a piece of guitar string forming a loop between the 2.
Sticky tape kept coming off and leaving a deposit on the drive.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the replies. I'm not really sure why, but it seems after the recent firmware updates and key rollovers, for some strange reason, the pvr is now working.
Still, I do have a couple of oldish 2.5" discs that I could use, but they aren't recognised by the box. I do have a disc caddy anyway but I'm still a tad confused. So do I format them as FAT 32 or NTFS as Chaos suggested? Any firm ideas would be helpful.
