Eurovox max blue, new firmware, what if cloned box?

Hi all

Basically I have a Eurovox Max Blue and have bought the required cable and will attemp to download the new firmware. However I notice that If it's a 'clone box' the firmware is no good and will 'Brick it'. As I'm a novice to this is there anyway i can tell if I have a cloned box? I just want to get the thing working again...
