download firmware plug lead in to com port on pc or laptop leave box on standby when run the firmware when it has detected box it will tell you the current firware detected then hit the start button then it will say done when finished,HOPE THIS HELPS make sure you use correct cable, null modem cable com port to com port dont bother tryin usb converters ive tryed myself and cant get it goin

i have proper null modem cable, (bought 2 now) and my max v cant be detected by pc to load new firmware. atm its running s/w version 1.0 stc4 sep 06 2007. h/w version is 2.0t k5. (if it matters) no matter what i've tried it will not connect, and have latest firmware ready and waiting to go on. have tried other threads and posts but dont seem to be getting anywhere. can anyone help further please?

Hi - have you tried restarting your computer with the box connected and switched on? alternatively have a look in your device manager (right click 'my computer') and have a look at your com ports.

Sorry if this is a bit obvious but best to eliminated the easy stuff first.

yeah, my mate is a computer buff but between us we cant figure this out. heard it could be a clone, heard it could be pretty screwed but as it is working i haven't bothered much. just really annoyed that it wont detect.
