Another help request guys

Hi guys, im trying to flash my box, but cannot as the pc is not picking up the connection. I have a laptop and no serial cable so i have a usb to serial adapter. same problem as most at the moment; waiting for response from receiver.

I have used these previously on an old laptop and it worked no problem but i can't seem to get it to work for me now. device manager picks it up as com3, all speed settings etc are correct but device manager says it is GMTEK PDA USB ADAPTER.

Can anyone suggest anything?

You say you have no serial cable. You need to use one, (null modem cable), in conjunction with the USB adapter.

no sorry satsmo iv confused you there. i have a serial cable to plug into the the usb adapter, but no serial slot on my laptop. hence the usb to serial adapter.

And I have confused you, I understood what you said but are you sure you have set your Comm Port correctly and have used the correct driver that came with the adapter?

Well that's where i'm not sure. the driver that came with the adapter is listing the device as a pda usb adapter, which doesn't sound right. is there anyway to download a different driver from the internet that i know will be right?
