Transfere data from hard drive to laptop

Hi,

I have got the Eurovox ex5000 pvr.

I have recorded to the hard drive and watched the programs and it works fine when inserted in the box.

The hard drive is a seagate one which came with the box.

I bought a external hard drive case so that could then transfere the data from the drive to my laptop. The hard drive installed and was there when looked at device manager.

When I clicked on the my computer icon there drive was not there.

Do I need to change anything to do with the settings on the drive to allow windows to see the drive?

how are you connecting HD

I was using an external hard drive case but as windows would not see it I took it back.

I am looking at getting something like this;

USB 2.0 to 2.5 3.5 SATA IDE Hard Drive Adapter Converter,SATA IDE Converter,USB to SATA IDE Converter

should this work?

or do setting on the HDD need to be changed?
