    An intelligent request for help

    Evening everyone,

Having read a number of posts now about how to flash my max v box (hi-tek's guide amongst others) I felt I was ready to embark upon actually carrying it out, however I'm having no luck with it.

I've managed to download the "UFL_MAX_V_30_11_08.exe" file through this forum, the chatterbox toolbar seems to be non functional at the moment (it will allow me to download older files, which look to be hosted on bigmaq's site but when clicking on the newest ones it takes me to a blank page (streamlineftp.net), I'm assuming their server is down). I've tried downloading the keymaster v1.2 but that's having the same problem, and yes I have refreshed the toolbar.

I've connected my desktop PC to the box via null modem cable. The port has already been configured as Com1 (I'm an IT technician so at least I know how to do that!!).

When I click the upload button to upload my cdf to the PC the uploader displayed "Version 2.10 detected" with the start button available to select, then displayed "Com1" with the button greyed out. Unfortunately it went back to the "Version 2.10 detected" message and just cycles between these 2 for a bit until the TV screen said "Memory failed..."

Just wanting the box flashed and not caring THAT much about the channel order or favourites I continued on.

I switched the box off and pressed the big download button at the top. The uploader gave me the option of what com port I wanted to use, 1 to 4, and said to power on the box. I chose com1, powered on the box, and it then says "awaiting response". Unfortunately after 15 mins now it's still saying that and hasn't uploaded anything.

I was starting to think the null cable is faulty but I've tested it with another device and it's fine.

So can I ask if anyone has any ideas on how to get my max v flashed? This is especially frustrating for me given that it was relatively quick and painless the last time, plus the nature of my job means everyone thinks I should have no problems here.

    The cure

It's ok, I worked it out...

    DISCONNECT BOX FROM THE TV!!!

seriously. I've lost all the channels but they were badly sorted anyway. Will do full power scan to get them all back then re favourite them.

Hi, I am very new to this myself and flashed mine for the first time the other day. I used the same download as yourself and it worked for me. However it was not without its problems. I took my box to the pc and connected up, all went well and it sent and started downloading as it should. Once it had gone through the download process I got the message "download failed". So I followed the advice of another member and unpluged from the mains, re-sent it and waited for the program to ask for a connection, it then went through the sending loading process and still came up with the same message. So I tried again and again (14 times). Then a member of this site told me to re-connect to the telly and see what happens. I connected up and everything was working, there was a roll here today and it coped without a problem. I did not have to re-scan all the channels were there.

The point is even if it looks as though it has not loaded the info might still be there so re-connect the tele and give it a try.
