Which is the best cable box ?

Hi
I'm new to this not too familiar with the rule as yet. Can anyone recommend what the best cable box to have and why. Is there a box that allowed you to view HD channels, record and watches a different channel at the same time? Thank.

yes the Dreambox 8000 when it comes out in Jan - price about 800 pounds
