    boycott Gemini Team

In light of developments regarding the implementation of a timed bomb in Gemini software and the sneaky manner indertaken by them to knock out Clone dreambox receivers and simular Linux based receivers, I understand other such websites are issuing a boycott on Gemini software, not only due to the manner in which they undertook this action, but in the distruction of peoples private property, it is one thing to disconnect a service but its another to harmfully distruct a product payed for with hard earned money.

What has happened to thousands of people across Europe is like an NTL or Virgin Technician coming into your house to switch off your service and then smashing up your TV set.

My sugestion is a boycott of the Gemini Team software by Digital Kaos for a unspecified length of time and to lead with other such websites untill such time as Gemini understand that any evasive action by them will not be tollerated in the future, If united with other like minded websites, this will send a defiant message to team Gemini, it is after all these websites that the software is primary distributed.

As nearly all Images need Gemini source codes we need to insure that other images will not be attacked with hidden time bombs or worse in the future.

Very well good,,, I'm sure the 'bomb' will make public-cvs one day, and then the shit will hit the fan! ( p.s havent even checked for a while, so may even be there already, but i doubt )

    I'm sorry, i dont agree,
The team WARNED everyone on image release that it wouldnt work on clones.
Whole new argument you could go into, but nah, I like gemini image, one of the best images available to be totally honest,my boxes are all genuine,, and even if they were clones id still get them working with gemini just to be a rebel. although each to there own accord.
    boom!

Moved from Forum Feedback and Suggestions.

I don't think we will be doing any boycotting, it sounds quite childish really. You are free to use any image you like, just don't use Gemini if you feel that way. The Gemini images are excellent and they can put in them what they want. As Satman says, they said it wouldn't work on clones and they were right.

I do indeed think you points are very valid and as for myself I have real Dreamboxes and this issue does not effect me, but websites like this one are the first port of call for everyone that has any issue relating such matters, in the past year more Dm500 clone receivers were sold than the Genuine receiver, some labled as Dreamboxes (which in my opinion is illegal) and need to be tackled, then there are other Linux receivers that do not clame to be anything other than a Linux reciver.

Childish maybe but whith the Dreambox 600 and other top linux models been cloned, most people will never know its a clone untill its too late, its for Dreambox & Gemini to use a different approach in this matter they know who builds these products in china tackel them not the customer and retailer that buys these in good faith I support if not Digital Kaos other websites that are currently implementing boycott of Gemini Software due to there total disreguard of open source and GNU license

Devilfish I totaly understand your position as with all of this you get more new people logging on for help to your fantastic website.
