SUBSCRIBERS to UPC's digital television will not be able to access certain ITV channels as of today.
The network has withdrawn channels ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 from the UPC line-up effective from midnight last night.
The company refused to reveal details of when it was aware that the contract with ITV was due to expire. It insisted it did everything it could but was not in a position to extend the contract.
The withdrawal follows the expiry of ITV's contract with UPC after the network secured an agreement with another provider to give it exclusive access to the channels.
However, UPC will continue to air UTV broadcasts.
A spokeswoman said UPC will be launching a range of new channels shortly, but in the meantime "we expect the top programmes contained in ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 will continue to be available on TV3 and 3e".
