The Downloading is not requesting :-(

I'm just in the process of updating my Kryptoview box and have hit a brick wall.

I'm using Maplins USB to Serial which is in turn connected to a Female to Female RS232.

The USB's been assigned COM 13 and i've changed the Baud of the COM properties to 115200 to match one of the many error messages..

All's i get is The Downloading is Failed Requesting ( Fail REQ! )

I've followed the update steps from someones guide and other steps from other threads without success.

    Am i missing something fundamental?

I've tried the two different Bin files on offer to check it was that with no success.

    HELP!!!!

    Thanks

The loader program is most likely looking at com1 and not com13.

Change the adapter to com1 and you should be ok.

The 2nd cable needs to be a null modem cable, not an rs232 or serial cable.

      Cheers Devilfish

      Thanks for that

I'd tried changing the COM Port to 1 but i've not tried the cable.

Whats the difference between an RS232 Serial and a Null Modem...? I thought they were the same.

I'll swap them in Maplin's tomorrow

They look the same, both 9-pin female but the wires inside are not connected the same. On the null modem, the transmit and receive wires are crossed.

DB9 9 pin RS232 Serial Null Modem Eurovox Dbox Cable on eBay, also, Modem Cables, Cables Connectors, Computing (end time 13-Dec-08 17:17:52 GMT)

          Nice one

          Cheaper than Maplins.

One last thing. On the guide it says set the box to 0000

Is this done manually by just typing channel 0000 on the remote or is a special mode you have to set the box to?
